Draw number 13 does not sit well with Benni: 'It's not ideal, not what I would want!'

AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy was left frustrated on Tuesday evening as his charges failed to capitalise on numerous goal-scoring opportunities to clinch a DStv Premiership victory against TS Galaxy.

The match ended in a goalless stalemate, with AmaZulu remaining stagnant in the seventh position, while Galaxy moved further away from the relegation zone in 13th place.

However, the damning statistic for Usuthu is that they now have succumbed to 13 Premiership draws in the 2021/22 campaign, the highest on the league table.

Orlando Pirates (2nd) and Golden Arrows (10th) are tied in second place on 10 draws in what has been an interesting season for domestic football.

Meanwhile, first place Mamelodi Sundowns have registered only six draws, but their championship mentality has seen them gain 14 victories this season.

Speaking to the club's media department after the match, McCarthy felt that his side should have gained more than just a point, given their recent CAF Champions League Group B victory against Horoya.

"The 13th draw is not pleasant, not ideal; it's not what I would want, especially after such a good game on Friday, a win in the CAF," said McCarthy.

"This game could have put us in a nice place, one point behind Pirates, and now you have played 21 games and are just 4 points clear of everyone else.

"If the other teams win one or two of their games, then they catch us (on the league table), then we are getting dragged into that dog fight.

"The players have to take more responsibility. When you go on to the field, you have to be clinical.

"This is a game where we could have easily gotten three points, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be."

AmaZulu will shift its focus again to African football as the turnaround comes
