Dr Michael Mosley 'died of natural causes' on day he went missing on Greek island, police say

Dr Michael Mosley died of natural causes on the day he went missing on the Greek island of Symi, according to local police. His body was found on Sunday (June 9) in a rocky area near Agia Marina beach, after his disappearance was reported on Wednesday last week.

Greek police spokeswoman Konstantia Dimoglidou told the BBC that an initial post-mortem examination has been carried out, which confirms there were no injuries on his body.

It also estimated that Mosley's time of death was around 4pm local time on Wednesday (June 5). The 67-year-old had left friends on the island’s Agios Nikolaos beach at around 1.30pm to go for a walk.

Ms Dimoglidou said that the position of his body means he died of natural causes. Toxicology and histology reports will now take place.

Footage reportedly found by a beach bar at Agia Marina shows what appears to be the TV doctor making his way down a rocky slope close to a fence before he falls out of view.

A huge search was launched last week involving police, firefighters with drones, Greek Red Cross workers, divers, a search dog and a helicopter to find Dr Mosley in dangerous conditions and high temperatures before his remains were found by a camera crew.
