Down's Barry O'Hagan to miss rest of season after suffering ACL injury

Down forward Barry O'Hagan will miss the rest of the season after Saturday’s injury in the Ulster semi-final loss to Armagh was confirmed as a cruciate.

The Hilltown man had just made his long-awaited return from triple reconstruction of knee ligaments last year when he came off the bench in the recent Division 4 loss to Westmeath.

He was also sprung from the bench as Conor Laverty’s side tried to get over the line against the Orchard County, but had to be helped off the field minutes later.

Cavan have also been hit by a serious blow as key forward Paddy Lynch suffered an ACL injury whilst training with his club Crosserlough.

The 24-year-old was the top scorer in this season’s Allianz Football League as Cavan came close to promotion to Division One. He followed that up with 1-14 in the Ulster clashes with Monaghan and Tyrone.

Meanwhile, Derry are awaiting on news of Padraig McGrogan’s knee injury picked up in training last week.

The Newbridge man has been one of the key players in the Oakleaf County’s rise in recent times and, if feared, he faces a long spell on the side-lines, it could be a massive blow for Mickey Harte’s side.
