Dover Athletic manager Mitch Brundle won’t be rushed into making signings

Mitch Brundle is prepared to play the waiting game if it means bringing his top targets to Dover.

Whites have announced three summer arrivals - Peter Ojemen, Ade Shokunbi and Imran Kayani - while Myles Judd has signed a new deal.

Patience is key as boss Brundle continues his Crabble rebuild.

He said: “You could look at social media and everyone’s worried about who’s signing, or why haven’t we signed anyone?

“I could have had my squad done three weeks ago but would they have been the right fit? We don’t know.

“I could sign the squad now and not worry but I don’t want to do that.

“I want to recruit the best players in their positions that I can for this level.

“A lot are going to go on trial and play in trial games at other clubs.

“Of course, they’re going to do that, but if they don’t get a National League club, then they get us.

“They’re better players than I could recruit at the moment. I’m just being honest.

“It’s catch 22 but I know what I’m doing.

“I don’t worry about all the outside noise or who’s saying what.

“I could have signed everyone that was approachable and had played at this level or the level below and been done and dusted.

“Then, all of a sudden, pre-season starts and the fans would have something else to say if people aren’t good enough.

“I’m very particular in who I want to sign and how I want to do it.

“I’d rather that than recruiting a whole squad and having nothing left to change things if pre-season doesn’t go well.

“I listen to what the fans want but at the end of the day I’m the manager and I know what’s going to work for us.

“We’ve got four players in the pipeline that haven’t been announced yet.

“There will be announcements when me and the club are ready.”
