Dover Athletic appoint Jake Leberl and Mike Sandmann as the new-look management team replacing sacked boss Mitch Brundle

Dover have named their new management team after sacking boss Mitch Brundle.

Jake Leberl, who only rejoined the second-bottom National League South side as Brundle’s assistant last month, will take charge alongside Academy boss Sandmann who returns to their first-team fold.

The news was revealed on Tuesday afternoon, hours after the departure of 29-year-old Brundle was confirmed following Saturday’s 4-3 away loss to basement boys Havant & Waterlooville.

Chairman Jim Parmenter said: “Neither Jake nor Mike need any introduction to supporters and they bring with them enormous combined knowledge and experience.

“They begin their task with immediate effect and further changes, and additions, will be announced in due course.

“Our supporters will be invaluable as we begin the huge challenge in front of us and I urge everyone to get behind the team as our 12th man.”

Their first fixture in charge will be at fourth-bottom Truro City this Saturday as Whites target just their second National League South success of the campaign.

Sandmann began combining his existing role with a place in Whites’ backroom staff last term but stepped back from his first-team coaching responsibilities in the summer.

Leberl, a utility man who featured in defence and midfield during his playing days, had returned to the club, having been Chris Kinnear’s No.2, before Kinnear was sacked five years ago.
