Donny van de Beek 'granted permission' to leave Manchester United and more transfer rumours

Donny van de Beek has been granted permission to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to reports.

As per 90min, the Dutchman - who arrived at Old Trafford in 2020 from Ajax - has been informed that United will not stop him from leaving Old Trafford in January if he wants to leave the club. However, it is thought that the 25-year-old is keen to stay and fight for his place.

Van de Beek made just four Premier League starts in his debut campaign and was sent on loan to relegation-battling Everton for the second half of last season. The arrival of Erik ten Hag, who managed Van de Beek in Amsterdam, was expected to see the midfielder start more frequently, but he has only made three substitute appearances so far this term.

The Dutchman is expected to leave on loan in January, with a number of Premier League sides thought to be interested in signing the United man. His former club Ajax and rivals PSV Eindhoven are both reportedly interested, too.

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that United are still desperate to sign midfielder Frenkie de Jong and will try and secure a move for the Barcelona man next year.

The Reds chased De Jong throughout the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise. Despite signing Casemiro from Real Madrid, United are still thought to be keen on recruiting another midfielder.

Cadena SER recently claimed that the Dutchman views himself as the long-term replacement for midfielder Sergio Busquets, who is out of contract next year. His family are also said to be very settled in Spain.
