Donington BSB: Ray targets Grand Slam payout

Bennetts British Superbike Championship leader Bradley Ray heads to Donington Park fresh from all-round success on the Rich OMG Yamaha.

Ray broke his four-year winning drought at Oulton Park with a double victory, having also collected two pole positions, rider of the round and the new circuit record, to sit with a six-point advantage over Honda’s Glenn Irwin after the opening three rounds.

As the national series arrives at Donington, the scene of his debut victory back in 2018, Ray is hoping for another trophy haul this weekend in a bid to claim the Milwaukee Spring Grand Slam and the £25,000 potentially on offer.

“Oulton Park was obviously nearly a perfect weekend for myself and the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team,” Ray confirmed. “We managed to take the first victory of the season and my first win in four years, and then back it up to make it a double. We nearly made it a triple and a perfect weekend, but I struggled a little bit in the last race.

“We also had two pole positions and two watches, three trophies, the Milwaukee trophy, Bennetts rider of the round and also the new all-time lap record. I was over the moon with that and now I am looking to take that confidence into Donington Park and keep that ball rolling!

“We missed the official test because of the weather, so it will be the first time for everyone this year at Donington and also myself on the new bike there. I am feeling good and the package is working well; the base setting is good.

“It was the circuit where I got my first victory in Superbikes so I am really looking forward to getting back there, especially on the Yamaha, and carrying the speed and consistency that we have had at the start of the season so I can’t wait to head to Donington Park now!”
