Doncaster Rovers vs Manchester United U21s live updates and team news from EFL Trophy fixture

Manchester United's Under-21s will take on Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

The competition is open to every club in divisions three and four of English football and they compete against 16 academy teams from Premier League and Championship clubs.

United view the EFL trophy as the chance to test 'elite young players' against higher opposition in a more pressured environment, which prepares them for the first-team.

The U21s won their opening game in the EFL Trophy group stage by beating Barnsley 3-2 and they secured that result by completing a stunning comeback after going 2-0 down.

Ethan Ennis made it 2-1 against Barnsley with a smart finish in the 81st minute and Jack Fletcher, who was introduced from the bench, scored a few minutes later with an unbelievable goal, striking an instinctive volley from around 35 yards that dipped under the crossbar.

United will take on Doncaster away tonight and they also have Huddersfield still to play.

Ennis started the game by bursting down the right wing but nobody could get onto his cross. The winger has been in great form for the academy and looks physically built for senior football.
