Donald Trump inauguration LIVE as US President sworn in and Joe Biden exits White House
Donald Trump will today be sworn is as the 47th President of the United States at an inauguration ceremony in Washington DC.
The Republican will return to the White House for his second term, replacing Joe Biden. It marks Mr Trump's second inauguration after serving his first term as president between 2017 and 2021.
Mr Trump has promised that his second term will bring about “a brand new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride”.
Today's ceremony has been moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda – the first time this has happened in 40 years – and the inaugural parade has replaced by an event at a city arena.
Mr Trump is expected to act swiftly after the ceremony, which will mark the official switch over. Executive orders have already been prepared ready for his signature to jump-start deportations, increase fossil fuel development and reduce civil service protections for government workers.
An incoming White House official said Mr Trump is going to issue a series of orders aimed at remaking America’s immigration policies on his first day in office – ending asylum access, sending troops to the southern border and ending American birthright citizenship.

Ahead of the swearing in, the invocation is read by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York.
