Donald Trump assassination attempt LIVE as former United States president is seen covered in blood after shooting at rally

Donald Trump has survived a suspected assassination attempt after a shooting at a rally in Butler county, Pennsylvania.

One spectator was killed, and another two wounded, in what is being treated as a major incident by the FBI.

Trump has since said in a statement: “I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the rally who was killed and also to the family of [those] badly injured.

“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country.”

Footage of the incident shows Trump gripping his face before secret service agents leap to his aid.

A voice can be heard saying: “Get down, get down, get down!”

“Shooter’s down. Shooter’s down. Are we good to move? We’re clear, we’re clear.”

The Prime Minister said: “I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes.

“Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack.”

The FBI have named the suspect as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
