Dominik Szoboszlai is the hero for Domenico Tedesco's side

RB Leipzig rounded off a memorable week for the club with a win away at Champions League-chasing rivals Bayer Leverkusen. 

Going into the crucial Easter Sunday fixture trailing Leverkusen by a point in the league table, Leipzig star Dominik Szoboszlai came up with the crucial goal to give his side an invaluable three points away from home. 

Since taking over in December, manager Domenico Tedesco's side have been one of the in-form sides across Europe and confirmed their credentials under the Italian with an important win away at Leverkusen. 

Szoboszlai's well-taken effort with the outside of his boot proved the difference between the two sides and it is now Leverkusen sweating over their qualification for Europe's elite competition next season. 

Leipzig, who won away at Atalanta in the week in Europe to set up an intriguing Europa League semi-final clash with Rangers, were made to work for their win at the BayArena. 

Having made a number of changes following Thursday nights gruelling tie at Atalanta, Leipzig had to endure some sustained spells of Leverkusen pressure. 

Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi was forced into a save from Edmond Tapsoba after his strike from a freekick was deflected late in the first period. 

Moussa Diaby forced Gulacsi in the Leipzig goal into another save later on while Patrick Schick sent a header wide when he should have done better. 

With Tedesco having seen enough, he introduced his star man Christopher Nkunku who immediately changed the intensity of proceedings for his Italian coach. 

His darting run almost led to an opening for Willi Orban, his strike smacking into the inside of the post and away.
