Domenico Tedesco in Rangers gamble as RB Leipzig boss focusses on Bundesliga to earn Champions League spot

Boss Domenico Tedesco states he will field the strongest possible RB Leipzig team against Borussia Mönchengladbach ahead of facing Rangers.

The German club play Gladbach in the Bundesliga on Monday before they make the trip to Scotland on Thursday to try and build on their 1-0 first leg Europa League semi-final victory.

A stunning Angelino volley five minutes from time was enough to give the Champions League chasing side a slender lead.

But Tedesco is adamant that securing a top four spot in the league is just as important as the return clash with Gio van Bronckhorst 's side after Freiburg leapfrogged them in the table on Saturday.

Tedesco said: “We're going all out. It's not an unimportant game and we'd do well not to think about Glasgow.

“Of course we have that in the back of our minds, but the drawer is closed for now."

Top scorer Christopher Nkunku continues to go from strength to strength this season.

The Frenchman made his debut for France during the last international break and is one of the most clinical finishers in Germany.

Tedesco has also pinpointed Nkunku as the difference-maker in Glasgow and in the Europa League final against either West Ham or Eintracht Frankfurt - who currently hold a 2-1 lead over the London based club.

“Christopher Nkunku is a player who can go far, a bit like Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich," added the former Spartak Moscow boss.

"He plays every game and has never been injured in the last twenty years. Christopher is also from this category of players. He is very resistant. It does us good.”
