Dogs Trust's list of films to watch with your dog on Bonfire Night including top-rated sci-fi
Dog owners concerned about their pets this bonfire night have been advised on which films to stream to keep them calm, with a dedicated channel available for viewing.
As fireworks displays commence ahead of November 5, Sky and Now TV have partnered with Dogs Trust to launch a channel specifically designed to help.
They've also provided crucial advice for all dog owners on how to choose the ideal film for a quiet night in, away from the loud noises and explosions.
The dedicated broadcast can be found on Sky channel 310, airing from 6am on November 1 until 6am on November 6, featuring popular movies suitable for both owners and dogs. The assortment of films will also be accessible on demand and with a NOW Cinema pass.
Dogs Trust has assisted in narrowing down the approximately 1,000 titles available on the service to 21 that are the best for owners to stream.
Selecting the right film for you and your dog to enjoy together can also depend on your personal preferences. If you opt for something that keeps you calm and content, it's likely to have the same effect on your canine companion, reports the Mirror.
The dog charity recommends choosing a title that can make you laugh, bring joy and promote positive feelings. This year's suggestions include last year's box office smash Barbie, which has been described by critics on Rotten Tomatoes as a "visually dazzling comedy".
It's essential for the content to feature bright colours, slow pacing, gentle music, and positive emotions. Content that should be avoided includes anything intense or suspenseful with sudden noises, loud dramatic music, or sound effects like gunshots, thunder, or unsurprisingly, fireworks.
Films shouldn't have scenes that could induce fear, anxiety, or anger
