Dog bites jogger as police issue image of man they want to speak to

A man out jogging was bitten by a dog - with police today issuing an image of a man they want to speak with in connection with the incident.

The runner is not believed to have been seriously injured. The Manchester Evening News understands he was bitten on the thigh, but thankfully only suffered minor injuries.

The dog hasn't been further described but the man was bitten on City Road in Manchester, close to the Cornbrook medical centre. It happened on December 8, but details have only just been released by Greater Manchester Police, who have now issued a public appeal.

Anyone who recognises the man in the grainy image has been urged to come forward. The dog's owner is described as a white man aged in his 40s. He was wearing blue jeans, a black coat and a beanie-style hat at the time.

The image of the man police want to speak with has been shared by the force on social media. The dog is understood to have been on a lead when it bit the jogger, who hasn't been identified.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, GMP's city of Manchester division said: "Officers in Manchester have issued the photo of man they would like to speak to after a passer-by was bitten by a dog on City Road in the city centre at 7.35am on 8 December 2023 - anyone with information should contact police via 101 or our website quoting log 534-8/1/24."

No further details have been released by the force.
