"Do you get out much?" Boss of dog friendly pub's stinging response to one star Tripadvisor review

It's one of the top rated food pubs in the Lake District with a five star rating on Tripadvisor. And a proud stance as a dog-friendly venue.

But the boss of The Clickham Inn was swift to respond when a one star review turned up on the public review site blasting the food and a "loose dog wandering around" at the pub near Penrith.

The pub is rated third out of 88 restaurants in Penrith in Cumbria, with over 800 five star reviews on Tripadvisor. It is described as a traditional village pub where well-behaved dogs are welcome.

But one reviewer was less than impressed with their experience and took to the public review site to say so. They blasted a "loose dog wandering around, sat by our feet putting us off our food."

The diner, named as Chelseaa-Alice on Tripadvisor, headlined their review: "Terrible food" which was posted a month ago on the site.

They wrote: "Awful, tasted frozen not fresh, loose dog wandering around, sat by our feet putting us off our food."

But The Clickham Inn's boss Geraldine Bailey launched a blasting riposte to the customer on the review site. She wrote: "Frozen and not fresh ?? Our customers know our food is cooked to order with fresh ingredients. Do you get out much?"

Responding to the claims of the "loose dog wandering around" it appeared that it was the pub's own dog that had offended the diner.

Geraldine continued: "Little Oscar is the 10 inch high friendly pub dog who when is not around most often folk ask for him. We are a dog friendly country pub with excellent customer care and welcome all.
