Diogo Dalot 'in advanced talks' over new Manchester United deal and more transfer rumours

Diogo Dalot is said to be close to penning a new long-term Manchester United deal.

The right-back had a tremendous first half of the season under Erik ten Hag, starting every game he was available for. His momentum was stunted when he picked up a muscle injury in Portugal's final World Cup game with Aaron Wan-Bissaka stepping up in his absence once the domestic season had resumed.

However, the defender has started the last three games and looks to be regaining his place in the starting XI, though he played as poorly as the rest of the team in Sunday’s 7-0 whitewash at Liverpool.

In January, Dalot admitted he "loves playing for the club" and is eager to stay at Old Trafford beyond his current deal’s 2024 expiry date. He revealed that negotiations over a new contract had already started by then, adding: “We are seeing how both parties will benefit. It is no secret that I am happy to be here.

"I love this club and I love to play for this club. We will see how things progress, but we are in a good direction for the team and, for me, this is the most important and, hopefully, individually I can still help the team."

Now, The Sun claim that Dalot is nearing the final stages of negotiations before he puts pen to paper. They say Real Madrid and Barcelona currently hold an interest in the full-back and would be ready to strike should a deal not be agreed.
