Diogo Dalot agrees with biggest criticism of Manchester United's season

Diogo Dalot thinks Manchester United must be more consistent if they want to challenge for every major trophy next season.

United have suffered a number of humbling losses this season, notably away to Brighton, Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle and Sevilla, but on each occasion they responded with a positive result in the following game.

Although Erik ten Hag's first season at the club has been a success, the biggest criticism of his team has been their lack of consistency and their tendency to collapse in games, which is something Dalot seemed to agree with on Sunday night.

Dalot, who spoke after progressing to the final of the FA Cup, challenged his teammates to be more consistent, as he believes that will be required if the club wants to compete for every major honour, especially including the Premier League.

The full-back admitted the dressing room must take lessons from the Sevilla defeat and use those to improve in the future.

"I think it has to be a lesson for us, if we want to compete more, if we want to win every trophy in every competition, we have to be more consistent. I think that's something we have to acknowledge and we have to face it," Dalot told MUTV.

"It's the reality because we can do things like this today. We showed character, tactically we were very good, we knew we had to be patient without the ball. They were trying to find spaces. Brighton are a fantastic team, they play great football.

"We had to be aggressive in the duels and I think today we want it, we had the desire and that responsibility has to be every single game, we have to be more consistent if we want to win every trophy.
