Ding Junhui sweeps Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ding Junhui defeated mentor Ronnie O'Sullivan 6-0 to go through to the semi-final of the Cazoo UK championship at the Barbican in York on Friday afternoon.

After two tight and tense opening frames which went the way of the Chinese player, Ding never looked back and went on to win the next four, including a wonderful break of 131 to clinch the victory.

Ding won the tournament back in 2019 when he saw off O'Sullivan on route to the title.

It is O'Sullivan's first whitewash since being defeated 5-0 to Iranian player Hossein Vafaei in qualifying for the German Masters last year.

In the previous round O'Sullivan had beaten Zhou Yuelong by six frames to nil.

This is also the first time the 7-time world champion has been whitewashed in a Triple Crown event. The first event he attended was back in 1992.
