The race for the Golden Boot: Mbappe leading the charge

With the FIFA World Cup currently in the Round of 16, the race for the Golden Boot is heating up with each passing game.

Leading the way is PSG star Kylian Mbappe with five goals, followed by seven players with three goals each so far.

There are notable absentees from the current top scorers so far, such as the previous Golden Boot winner Harry Kane and Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo, both on one goal each.

3: Cody Gakpo (Netherlands) 3 goals

The Netherlands have been a rather pragmatic team at the tournament so far, but that has not stopped PSV star Cody Gakpo from finding the back of the net. Gakpo has been a man in form this season for his club and has translated that form to his national side by scoring in all three group matches.

However, he failed to net in their Round of 16 clash against USA. Gakpo will have a tough assignment in his next game as he will come up against Argentina and Lionel Messi.

4: Alvaro Morata (Spain) 3 goals

The Atletico Madrid forward scored in all three group
