Dimitar Berbatov makes prediction about Donny van de Beek's future at Manchester United

Former striker Dimitar Berbatov is confident that Donny van de Beek will be get the opportunity to resurrect his Manchester United career under Erik ten Hag next season.

Ten Hag was installed as United's new permanent permanent manager last week and will take charge ahead of next season. His arrival at Old Trafford will signal the beginning of a new chapter in the club's history and promises to bring huge changes.

The current squad is in desperate need of an overhaul, with several players in need of being offloaded, while several positions need strengthening with new additions. But there are also players currently on United's books who have struggled for opportunities who could be presented with a new lease of life under Ten Hag.

Van de Beek may well be will be one of them. The Dutch midfielder — who is currently on loan at Premier League strugglers Everton — joined United from Ajax in September 2020 but has failed to have any sort of impact at Old Trafford so far.

But considering he will be reunited with Ten Hag — his former manager at Ajax — there is a good chance Van de Beek will get the chance to showcase his talents to United's supporters on a regular basis. Berbatov believes he will get a chance.

"Van de Beek could be free to play under Ten Hag," Berbatov told Betfair. "Things haven’t worked out so far at United for him.

"He will get a chance to show what he can do [under Ten Hag] and he has worked with Ten Hag before at Ajax which is always a good thing. Having that connection is great when you're a player.
