Dillian Whyte "doesn't believe" Tyson Fury will fight him despite £31million purse bid

Dillian Whyte "doesn't believe" Tyson Fury will fight him despite the Brit's promoter landing a massive £31million bid for the rights of the bout.

Frank Warren out-bid Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn last week by £7m to secure the rights for Fury's WBC title defence against Whyte.

The 80/20 split ordered by the WBC means Fury will earn £25m as he defends his belt for the second time while Whyte will earn a £6m payday.

Whyte has been silent since the fight was verbally agreed upon with Fury labelling him a "coward" for not commenting on the news.

And Hearn thinks Whyte has not spoken about the fight because he doesn't "believe anything" Fury says.

"He doesn't believe that Tyson Fury will fight him, being honest, he don't believe anything that they say," Hearn told iFL TV.

"I guess he's thinking until I get a contract, until everyone signs, until I get the date and the money's paid. I don't believe it, but we'll see.

"He's ready, he's been training non-stop and by the way, you don't have to play to their tune you know. Tyson Fury, he wants interaction and he wants goading.

"He wants see a reaction, he wants to get himself fired up in camp. Maybe Dillian Whyte won't say a thing until the fight, maybe we'll fight maybe we won't, you'll find out on the night.

"You haven't just got to play people's tunes. Dillian's never gonna play anyone's tune. I think it's quite funny 'where are you Dillian', nowhere, we're hiding."

The fight is targeted to take place on April 23 with a number of venues short-listed, including the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Whyte has been waiting for his shot at the WBC belt for over 1000 days, winning the interim title in 2019 against Oscar Rivas.
