Dikko reaffirms commitment to sports renaissance at awards
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, at the weekend, reaffirmed his commitment to the restructuring of the country’s sports sector to make it attractive to private sector investors.
Also speaking at the event, Group Managing Director of GTI Assets Management and Trust Limited, Abubakar Lawal, who was one of the awardees, expressed his excitement for the recognition of his firm’s contributions to the Nigerian league, noting that his company will continue to partner with the NFF and NPFL to ensure that the country’s league competes favourably with the best in the world.
Apart from Lawal, other awardees recognised at the event were Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Valuejet Airlines Chairman, Kunle Soname, sports facilities expert, Ebi Egbe, and Paul Edeh, who owns two women’s football clubs.
One of the co-chairpersons of the now-unified Nigerian Supporters Club, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa, also received an award of recognition for her contributions to the country’s sports development.
