Diego Maradona: New mural of Argentina icon is being dubbed a 'wonder of the world'

Diego Maradona has had an enormous new mural unveiled in Buenos Aires and some are calling it a new ‘wonder of the world’ due to its sheer size.

The Barcelona and Napoli legend is hailed as a God in his homeland.

He secured immortal status in the eyes of every Argentine when, at the 1986 World Cup, he led the country to glory.

Now, if you happen to be an England fan of a certain age, then that victory for Argentina might still come with a slightly bitter taste after Maradona scored his infamous 'Hand of God' goal against Peter Shilton and sent England packing from the tournament.

But let's not forget, whilst that might be the most controversial goal the sport has even seen, Maradona also scored what is arguably the finest goal of all-time in the very same game.

So steeped in footballing folk law is that game that the referee from the day is set to earn a whopping £3.5 million selling the match ball at auction in London next month.

Which just goes to show how adored and treasured Maradona will always be in the minds of football fans.

As a result of that love, Maradona has many murals across the world.

One of his most famous is in Naples, the only other city outside of South America that can lay claim to Maradona being one of their own. Whilst he has several across his homeland.

The latest Maradona focussed masterpiece, though, might be the best yet - it's certainly the biggest.

Unveiled recently in Canning, Buenos Aires, the mural features on a large building, occupying an entire side of the structure.

It's surely visible for miles around and you can check it out in a video we've included below.
