'Devastating' - Sky Sports man reacts to possible Raphinha replacement at Leeds

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell has urged Leeds United to consider the signing of Wolves winger Adama Traore this summer.

Recently, a report from Leeds Live claimed that whilst a move for the electric Spaniard wasn’t currently a priority at Elland Road, a swoop later in the window remained a distinct possibility.

This comes amidst growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Raphinha at the Yorkshire club as Barcelona, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all step up their interest in the Brazilian.

Following an underwhelming loan spell at Barca, a disenchanted Traore looks set to return to Wolves this summer, and one pundit has now called for Leeds to make their move as Jesse Marsch eyes a replacement wide player…

Speaking to Football Insider, former Everton hotshot and regular Sky Sports contributor Campbell has implored the Whites to sign the 26-year-old should Raphinha leave.

He said: “Without a shadow of a doubt. Traore scares defences. When he is on form, he is devastating. He can cause problems for any defender. He is very difficult to handle.

“Raphinha has been excellent for Leeds. It was always going to be difficult to keep him even though they stayed up. Teams look at how players react when things aren’t going their way. Raphinha stepped up for Leeds last season. The bigger teams want a player like him because they know he can handle the pressure.

“It is a really important window for Leeds. I don’t see Raphinha being there beyond the transfer deadline.”

Replacing the goal input provided by the man dubbed a ‘magician’ by Daniel James is no mean feat, and Traore has never truly reached the heights his attributes suggest he can.

Since signing for the Whites, Raphinha has directly contributed to 28 goals
