"Devastated for him" - Journalist reacts after new Elland Road setback for Leeds man

It was devastating to watch Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford pick up another injury in the Whites’ 3-2 win against Wolves, says journalist Dean Jones.

The 28-year-old had to be taken off in the first half, leaving him in tears as his frustrating season continues.

While £18m-rated Bamford was forced to come off in that incredible game at Molineux, the injury was not too bad, according to manager Jesse Marsch.

“Patrick Bamford we believe is not too bad,” the Leeds boss told the Yorkshire Evening Post and other outlets after the match.

“His plantar fasciitis has just been sensitive as he’s tried to get himself back. The reaction can look like it’s a bad one, I think he was just really disappointed to come off.”

In total, Bamford has made just seven league starts this season due to injury, so it is easy to understand his frustration and disappointment.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that it was devastating to see Bamford suffer another setback at a time when he is desperate to help his team.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “Bamford, you’re devastated for him because he was so desperate to make his mark on his team and ensure that they stay in the Premier League.”

To say they have missed him would be an understatement. Last term, Bamford scored 17 Premier League goals to help his side to a top-half finish.

Without that kind of firepower this time around, the Whites have dropped to 16th and now find themselves in a relegation battle.

The absence of the 6 ft 1 striker has not left Leeds completely blunt, though, with Raphinha doing a decent job in front of goal this term.
