Details confirmed for England blockbuster at the Aviva

The Republic of Ireland's blockbuster UEFA Women's Euro 2025 qualifier against England at the Aviva Stadium next month will kick off at 7.30pm.

Eileen Gleeson's team welcome the reigning European champions to Dublin on Tuesday 9 April, four days after they take on France in Metz.

Sweden complete a daunting four-team group, with the Girls in Green rank outsiders to finish in the top two and book their ticket to the finals in Switzerland.

Even if Ireland finish bottom of the group they are guaranteed a place in the play-off semi-finals, but the Girls in Green will be aiming to cause a real stir when they square up to three sides who are all ranked inside the world's top five.

Ireland played at the Aviva for the first time last September when they eased past Northern Ireland 3-0 in front of almost 36,000 fans.

They will return to Lansdowne Road for the clashes with England and Sweden (also a 7.30pm kick-off), though the venue for their final home game against France in July has yet to be confirmed.

"There is no escaping it, it is the toughest group we could possibly have got," Gleeson said after the draw was made.

"Did we want to be in it? Maybe not. But we are here now. We have a saying within the team - be where your feet are. Our feet are here now and we will plan for that and we will decide on our approach for the games."
