Derry await in potential Sam Maguire group of death

The All-Ireland SFC stage draw threw up a potential group of death on Tuesday, with either Armagh or Donegal, and the winners of Galway v Mayo, pitted against Derry and Westmeath.

Galway face Mayo on Sunday at Pearse Stadium in the Connacht SFC decider, and the victors will be 'rewarded' with a devilishly tough group stage challenge.

On Sunday week Donegal and Armagh collide in the Ulster final. The losers of that battle will also drop into an intriguing Group 1.

In Group 2 the Leinster final winners (either Dublin or Louth) will join the losers of Galway-Mayo plus Roscommon and Cavan.

The Ulster champions will face Tyrone, Cork and the losers of Kerry-Clare, who meet in the Munster final on Sunday.

The Munster winners will go up against the losers of Dublin-Louth, as well as Moinaghan and Meath.

The four group winners advance to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals with the runners-up and third-placed teams heading for the preliminary quarter-finals. Games begin on the weekend of 18/19 May.

In the Tailteann Cup, Longford are in with Kildare, Leitrim and Waterford in an awkward Group 1.

Wexford join Sligo, Antrim and Tipperary in Group 2. Wicklow are in with Laois, Fermanagh and Carlow in Group 3, while Group 4 houses Limerick with Down, Offaly and London.

The competition begins on the weekend of 11/12 May
