Dermot O'Leary forced to issue This Morning apology after guest breaks golden rule amid 'emotional manipulation'

Dermot O'Leary kept it professional during his latest stint on This Morning as he was forced to issue an apology on behalf of one of his co-stars. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Friday (June 16) with Alison Hammond after doing a full week's stint on the programme.

This week, viewers have seen Dermot hosting alongside Holly Willoughby after the TV and radio presenter was previously drafted in to cover for Holly alongside Alison last month after it was revealed that Phillip Schofield had quit the popular daytime show after more than 20 years before he left ITV altogether following his affair admission.

After Holly hosted alongside both Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle, on Monday (June 12), it was Dermot's turn to take the seat alongside her and as they kicked off the show, the pair reflected on how they have not worked together on the show since 2014 when Dermot filled in as a presenter before the former X Factor star confirmed he'd be alongside Holly for two weeks.

But normality resumed on Friday and Dermot was back alongside Alison and the pair kicked off the show with the daily 'This Morning's View' segment which saw them joined by This Morning regulars Gyles Brandreth and Sonia Sodha to talk about the day's big news stories.

They spoke through a few current stories including the latest on Prime Minister Boris Johnson following the Partygate report as well as sharing the heartbreaking family tributes to the students killed in Nottingham earlier this week.

Later, they moved on to discuss a bizarre story that has gone viral on social media, about a man who faked his own death to see how many people would turn up to is funeral,
