Dermont Desmond pictured as Celtic supremo touches down in Glasgow while Brendan Rodgers chase ramps up

Dermot Desmond has touched down in Glasgow as he ramps up his bid to seal a return to Celtic for former boss Brendan Rodgers.

Record Sport exclusively told how the Irish billionaire has personally intervened in the club’s managerial search for a successor to Ange Postecoglou and he has been pictured arriving on a private jet into Glasgow airport. Rodgers met Hoops chiefs Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay in Majorca earlier this week and now the Treble winners are stepping up their efforts to land the 50-year-old former Leicester City boss, who who spent three-and-a-half years at Parkhead previously. Desmond is the club’s majority shareholder and is reportedly due to hold face to face talks with Rodgers in London.

Desmond is set to do that this week as they look to make an appointment with Rodgers the standout candidate given his previous success at the club, although there was a furious fans reaction to the manner in which he left mid-season for the King Power Stadium and some supporters are still angered by that.
