Derek McInnes' Rangers rejection doesn't mean no second chance as punter's Clement replacement demand dissected

Derek McInnes turned Rangers down once, but that doesn't mean he would again.

The Kilmarnock boss' stock is on the rise again after guiding Killie to fourth place and a spot in the Europa League qualifiers. Wins over both of the Glasgow clubs along the way caught the eye with McInnes being touted as the natural successor to Steve Clarke for when the Scotland boss eventually moves on.

Philippe Clement will get the chance to try and wrestle the title back from Celtic next year. Some more extreme Light Blues fans are calling for a change already, although that's perhaps a raw reaction to the Hoops claiming the title. Defeat in in the Scottish Cup Final to their rivals however, and Clement would need to make a strong start to next season to stop the pressure mounting from the stands. He's planning a summer rebuild at Ibrox though and the board will hope that the Belgian will put even more of a stamp on the squad.

One Super Scoreboard caller however, isn't for Clement ripping it up in the close season. Instead, he wants McInnes appointed and a number of Kilmarnock stars to come with him.

McInnes was offered the job whilst Aberdeen manager back in December 2017. And while Wilson is aware that in the eyes of fans, one no should rule out any further approaches, he isn't so sure the outcome would be the same should, in the future, Rangers come calling for McInnes once more.

"He (caller) says he doesn't want a rebuild but he's getting rid of the manager and wants a good few Kilmarnock players in, so that's pretty much the start of a rebuild. You bring a new manager in, you bring a new staff in. You bring a new staff in, you bring in totally new ideas and a different philosophy of how you play.
