Derek McInnes aims to land Celtic blow but admits Kilmarnock have a different agenda to Premiership big boys

Kilmarnock welcome Celtic to Rugby Park on Saturday as they prepare to face their second Old Firm club in as many weeks.

But the task at hand is not too big for the Ayrshire outfit, according to boss Derek McInnes. The manager is hoping his side can deal the Scottish champions a few blows at the weekend, building on their strong first half performance at Ibrox last week. The newly promoted side shut up shop in opening 45, securing a 0-0 scoreline at the break against Gio van Bronckhorst 's men. But the Killie boss wants this weekend to be a little different.

He admits that Ange Postecoglou 's squad boasts better players but reckons his men can still give them 'something to think about' by being more positive and aiming for the first goal in front of a home support. However, McInnes also admits that his aims this season look a lot different to those possessed by the Parkhead side - as well as their Glasgow neighbours.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the clash, the Killie boss said: “We expect Celtic to apply pressure. They’ve got good attacking players but it’s important to us that it’s not a 90 minute game like that.

“We’ve got to try and to give them something to think about. Let them know it’s not going to be all their own way and if we can strike that first blow and plant that seed of doubt then that goes a long way - not only for us being really confident but also maybe affecting them.

“Last week was different at Ibrox in the sense that we wanted to go and try and keep a huge crowd quiet and frustrate for as long as we could. We got to half time, we were pleased enough with our work.
