Derek Adams STANDS BY raging Ross County rant but reveals he does 'regret' one thing he said

Derek Adams says he stands by what he said about the standard of the SPFL...even if he does regret one aspect of his raging rant.

Adams watched his Ross County team fall to a stoppage time Dundee goal and set the headlines on fire with his astonishing comments after the game. He tore into the standard of Scottish football, saying it needs to "take a look at itself" and claimed the Morecambe team he left to return to Dingwall was "100 times better" than the County squad he inherited.

There has been plenty of backlash. Hibs boss Nick Montgomery branded it 'rubbish' while Craig Levein could only laugh and joked he probably regrets saying it. For the most part though Adams says he stands by what he said, as he told the BBC: "What I said was from the five games I've witnessed and sometimes it's probably better that I keep my thoughts to myself. After the game, we'd lost the last minute goal and you probably say things quite quickly after it. From what I've seen in the five games, I stand by it."

But there is one comment he regrets. He went on: "I shouldn't have referred to my former employer and that's something I do regret. The players are disappointed by what I said, there's no doubt about that, but now they have to go out and prove on the pitch how good they are.

"I'm trying to get us moving up the league, trying to push the players on. People can say that's maybe devaluing them etc, but I'm trying to get them moving forward and get them thinking."
