Deontay Wilder shows his class after Robert Helenius fight in new footage

Deontay Wilder made his return to the ring on Saturday night and the Bronze Bomber showed that his right hand is still one of the most powerful weapons in heavyweight boxing.

Wilder, renowned for his phenomenal power, has one of the greatest knockout records in the sport, and his first-round victory over Robert Helenius demonstrated that he is still a force to be reckoned with.

The two fighters were probing each other at the start of the bout, the American offered a few jabs with his left before Helenius countered with a few shots to the body. Wilder then swung and missed with a flurry of punches as the Finn looked to force him back, before a tremendous right hander from Wilder caught the Nordic Nightmare flush in the face as he moved in, giving the returning Bomber an instant knockout.

Helenius was out cold and he immediately received medical attention and was taken to hospital for checks. However, what will be remembered will be a real touch of class from Wilder. The American visited Helenius in his hotel room to check on his recovery after the devastating knockout.

Wilder enquired as to whether his opponent was doing okay and offered an apology as the pair embraced. Then, as Helenius apologised for not making it a longer contest, the victor referred to the opening exchanges where Helenius had acquitted himself well prior to the KO, telling his opponent: “You did great.”

The 38-year-old Scandinavian, a former sparring partner of the Bronze Bomber, responded by saying: "This is your time now I have to say I am out. I am 38 years old I have been doing this for 25 years. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to fight though."
