Denis Shapovalov tells Italian Open crowd to 'shut the f*** up' in massive outburst

Canadian rising tennis star, Denis Shapovalov’s frustrations boiled over as he told the crowd to ‘Shut the f*** up’ in his Round-of-64 match against Lorenzo Sonego at the Italian Open.

Ranked world number 16, Shapovalov is still young at 23 but does boast a 2021 Wimbledon semi-final to his resumé.

However, he has shown he clearly has not learnt from this tournament experience as, once again, he exampled a recurring trait of his; to lose his head during a match.

In this circumstance, after an earlier warning from the umpire, Shapovalov paced up to the net pointing to a mark on the clay court which he believed proved that the umpire’s ruling of his second serve being out, was wrong.

Dismissing the umpire’s decision once again, the Canadian climbed over the net to try to further emphasise his point earning the 23-year-old a point penalty.

This penalty brought about the first of a beginning of a series of expletives from Shapovalov as he told the umpire, ‘That’s bulls***’.

Furthering on from Shapovalov’s attempted character assassination of umpire Richard Hague, the Canadian did receive his prior request of the supervisor to be called and further delay the match, much to the crowd’s frustration.

After examination the supervisor agreed with Hague’s decision and objective ruling to award the world number 16 a point penalty.

Having achieved nothing from his crusade, the crowd were understandably frustrated, leading to a chorus of boos around the stadium.

It was then that Shapovalov’s tantrum peaked as he shouted, ‘Shut the f*** up’, whilst simultaneously flapping his arm around to the crowd.
