Delta Queens to know opponents July 3 as CAF picks Benin City for championship

Delta Queens

Nigerian champions, Delta Queens, will know their opponents in the West African Football Union (WAFU) B leg of the CAF Champions League play-off on July 3, the African football governing body has disclosed.

The draw for the WAFU B play-off will hold in Abuja on July 3 with the teams grouped into two zones.

Yesterday, the sub-continental football governing body in a communique to all general secretaries under WAFU B said the event will commence by 11.00 a.m.

Delta Queens won the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super Six play-off last week, dethroning Bayelsa Queens, who represented Nigeria in the competition last season.

Bayelsa Queens won the competition hosted by Ghana and went on to win the bronze medal at the larger continental championship hosted by Morocco, last year.

Delta Queens’ main opponents in the WAFU B play-off will be Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who emerged winners of the 20232/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

The WAFU B tournament will hold in Bènin City in August.
