The Delta State Football Association has disclosed that 17 clubs have registered for this year’s FA Cup, which is expected to hold between March 12 and 30 at Sapele Township Stadium and Kwale Stadium.
Among the 17 clubs are four women’s clubs and 13 men’s teams.
Addressing the participating teams, Delta State Football Association Chairman, Ken Nwamuocha, urged the clubs to conduct themselves with integrity throughout the tournament, emphasising the importance of fair play and tolerance.
Also speaking at the event, Delta FA’s Head of Competition Committee, Steve Cole, attributed the low turnout of teams to the high registration fees imposed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He urged the registered teams to adhere to the rules of the game and exhibit proper conduct on and off the field.
The winners of the Delta State FA Cup will not only claim a cash prize of N1.5 million, but will also represent the state at the national FA Cup finals.
