"Definitely made inroads" - Journalist drops Arsenal transfer claim on £120k-p/w star

Arsenal have ‘definitely made inroads’ as they look to lure Leicester City star Youri Tielemans to the Emirates Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners took their summer spending spree up a notch by forking out £45million to land Gabriel Jesus, but boss Mikel Arteta could now turn his attentions towards sealing a deal for Tielemans.

Speaking on the Que Golazo podcast, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tielemans is Arteta’s priority target when it comes to attempting to bolster his central midfield options.

It comes after the transfer guru previously suggested internal Arsenal discussions have been held over the Belgian since January.

With Tielemans entering the final 12 months of his £120,000-per-week deal and being unwilling to strike a fresh agreement, Leicester are ready to cash-in for a cut-price fee.

The 25-year-old’s precarious situation has resulted in the Foxes seeking just £25million ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Tielemans has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, seemingly putting them in pole position to win the race for his services.

Jones believes Arsenal are working hard behind the scenes as they look to welcome Tielemans to north London.

The transfer insider understands the Gunners have already explored what the 52-cap Belgium international’s wage demands are.
