Deaf Table Tennis Championship begins tomorrow in Lagos
The second Deaf Table Tennis Championship will serve off tomorrow at the knock up hall of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
According a statement jointly signed by the president of Deaf Supporters Development Initiative (DSDI), Afolabi Dahunsi and the Chairman, Amuda Yusuf Ibrahim, who is still basking in the euphoria of the success of the recent West Africa Deaf Football/Athletics Championship held in Lagos, the two-day championship is aimed at celebrating the 2024 International Day for Persons with Disability, which holds on December 3 every year.
He said the championship is also aimed at amplifying the leadership potential of deaf persons in the society to show that they can become celebrities in the modern world through active participation in sports.
It disclosed that players have been invited from the six geo-political zones to participate in the two-day championship, which ends on Saturday.
This year’s championship is jointly being organised by the Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) and the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), who are providing technical supports.
Like the maiden edition held in 2023, there are cash awards, trophies and certificates for winners and other participants.
