De Bruyne out, Grealish 'to be assessed' - Man City squad turn attentions to international break

Not 12 hours had passed from Manchester City lifting their three trophies in the city centre, and Nathan Ake was looking relatively fresh as he linked up for international duty with the Netherlands.

Ake had taken in all the sights and sounds (and rain) of City's treble parade on Monday, with the squad enjoying an after-party at Depot Mayfield. The defender had been with his teammates for a night in Ibiza on Sunday after winning the Champions League on Saturday night, yet on Tuesday morning he was with his national teammates, earning a standing ovation on arrival.

Not every player will represent their countries over the next week or so, with Kevin De Bruyne's admission that he was playing the last two months with a torn hamstring ruling him out of Belgium's fixtures. De Bruyne will be a fitness doubt for the start of the season after his hamstring finally snapped in the final.

Of all the players who partied hard over the weekend, Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips were the most vocal on stage on Monday. They are expected to join the England squad on Tuesday, and will reportedly be assessed for their 'physical and emotional state' ahead of Friday's trip to Malta.

England face Malta and then North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday, with City's five players hoping to get some involvement.
