Davina McCall shares 'saddest' family discovery she made after brain tumour surgery

Davina McCall has shared an emotional experience from her recovery after brain tumour surgery. The beloved 57-year-old TV presenter spoke of her diagnosis of a benign brain tumour (colloid cyst) in November following a health check, which led to her having an operation.

On a recent episode of the 'Making The Cut' podcast, Davina and her co-host Michael Douglas, who is also her partner, discussed her surgery and her recovery. Davina spoke about suffering from short-term memory issues post-operation, at one point even forgetting that the surgery had already taken place, thinking it was scheduled for the following day.

Michael had the responsibility of making sure Davina didn't touch her scar and often had to "reinforce reality" when she became confused. Davina emotionally recounted: "I think the saddest one for me, because I had spent the most amazing afternoon with my dad, who died two years ago, but it was the most real experience I have ever had."

She continued: "He was with me and he was comforting me and we were laughing; we had the most amazing afternoon and when you came, I was like, 'I have just spent the afternoon with Dad and it was amazing!."

Davina said: "And you were like, 'I don't know if I can reinforce this," to which he confessed: "Yes, I didn't want to bother with that. I thought, 'Right, well, I'm not bothering correcting that, that, you know, fantasy or something'. We'll just leave that hanging for a bit."

The following day, Davina asked Michael if her father had passed away, which he confirmed to be true. She admitted that she wasn't angry with him for telling her, reports Bristol Live.
