David Stockdale's key qualities highlighted amid ongoing Sheffield Wednesday transfer link
Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper David Stockdale has already shown key qualities that will impress on-looking Sheffield Wednesday fans following the clubs said interest in the player this summer.
As reported earlier this week, the Owls have identified the 36-year-old as the perfect replacement for Bailey Peacock-Farrell, with his wealth of experience a key factor in Darren Moore's interest.
Enjoying a superb season with Gareth Ainsworth's side, the former Fulham, Birmingham City and Brighton Hove Albion shot-stopper played every minute of the regular league campaign, recording 18 clean sheets to help the Chairboys finish sixth in the table.
Following Wycombe's play-off semi final victory, Wycombe captain Joe Jacobson praised the Owls target's heroics, insisting a strong level confidence in the experienced goalkeeper.
"All season we have relied on him, we play a certain way where we press and then we can hold in and look to defend our box. That's why he's got the golden glove after producing save after save and I think he's produced the most saves all season," began Jacobson.
"We know it gives us so much confidence having Stocko [David Stockdale] behind us. He comes to claim balls, he saves shots all over the goal and he's just brilliant to have."
With the Owls hoping to bring in as mentioned, a solid replacement for former loanee Peacock-Farrell, Moore will be hoping his side can continue in a similar style of playing out from the back next season, utilising Wednesday's wide players to attack teams at a frantic pace.
