David De Gea has already dropped transfer hint amid Cristiano Ronaldo reunion talk

Despite the time being right for David de Gea to leave Manchester United, there is still a sense of surprise the Spaniard has not been snapped up by another club yet.

While his errors towards the end of his spell at Old Trafford caused his downfall, De Gea did still win the Premier League Golden Glove for most clean sheets and is certainly worth a gamble at 32. Reports last week suggested Real Madrid had entered the conversation for the ex-Red.

Thibaut Courtois suffered an ACL injury this month and will be out for most, if not all, of this season. However, these rumours have now subsided after manager Carlo Ancelotti completed a loan move for Chelsea's Kepa.

De Gea had also been linked with German giants Bayern Munich while last month he was tipped to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr and that latter rumour has gathered pace. Whether a move to the Middle East is something which entices De Gea is unknown.

But should he make the switch to the club, he would welcome a reunion with his former teammate. Speaking to BT Sport (now TNT Sports) in October after Ronaldo had scored his 700th club goal in the victory over Everton, De Gea spoke fondly of the Portuguese icon.

He said: "Well he has probably not been in this situation before [being left out of the starting XI] but I think the way he works, trains every day, 100 per cent he takes care of his body and his mind. It is unbelievable, it is something else.
