David Cameron arrives at Downing Street with reshuffle underway following sacking of Suella Braverman

David Cameron has been seen arriving at Number 10 Downing Street this morning (Monday) fuelling speculation he may be about to enter frontline politics.

A cabinet reshuffle is underway after the sacking of the Suella Braverman this morning. A number 10 source said Rishi Sunak 'asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted.'

It follows the publication of an unauthorised article in The Times published last Thursday in which she criticised the way pro-Palestinian protests had been policed.

The Tory party has now confirmed Mr Sunak is carrying out a wider reshuffle in order to 'strengthen his team in Government to deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future.'

All eyes have been on Downing Street this morning for clues as to who might be in line for a key role. And there was big shock when Mr Cameron, who was Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016, stepped out of a car and into Downing Street shortly before 9am.

It has sent the rumour mill spiraling with many believing Mr Cameron is now primed to return to one of the great offices of state such Foreign Secretary. Mr Cameron is not an MP but could serve in cabinet if he was admitted to the House of Lords.

Number 10 are yet to comment on the visit. Mr Cameron resigned as an MP in September 2016, just months after he stepped down as PM following the Brexit Referendum, in which he campaigned to remain in the EU.

He said at the time he didn't want his presence on the backbenches to be a 'distraction' to his successor Theresa May.
