David Beckham's Inter Miami verdict as Lionel Messi and Co target seek quickfire trophy double

David Beckham and Lionel Messi have the prospect of a second trophy in as many months after their historic Leagues Cup success last weekend.

Messi arrived with the club sitting bottom of the Eastern Conference in the MLS, but his phenomenal record of 10 goals in just seven games led Inter Miami on a magical cup run. The team met Nashville in the Leagues Cup final as Messi once again got on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw before Miami prevailed 10-9 on penalties. The final takes place next month.

It certainly is a drastic change of fortunes for a team who had picked up 15 points from as many league games during Phil Neville’s time in charge. He was axed by Beckham in June.

“It's an emotional night for all of us. It has been a long journey for me. It has been a long journey, I always knew there would be bumps in the road along the way and there was too many, to
