David Beckham rejects approaches to help with Manchester United takeover bids

David Beckham will not be involved in any attempts to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family, according to reports.

The 47-year-old recently took up an ambassadorial role with Qatar that stretched beyond the 2022 World Cup, with the country still confident a deal can be agreed to buy the club in its entirety.

Set for a February 17 deadline, Jim Ratcliffe, Elon Musk and Saudi Arabia have been linked with interest in the Reds but reports suggest Beckham will no longer involve himself with any potential bids.

The Daily Telegraph reports Beckham has been approached by the Qataris, as well as other leading contenders for the takeover of his former club, despite his heavy involvement with MLS side Inter Miami in recent years.

The report states Beckham hinted at the beginning of the potential United takeover talk that he would be interested in backing a bid, but these have since been quashed. The former Real Madrid star is now said to have turned down any such invitations.

Current owners the Glazers are said to be holding out for a valuation close to £6bn, with things expected to move quickly in regards to a full sale in the next month. Gulf state Qatar already own Ligue 1 side and former employer of Beckham, Paris Saint-Germain, but any bid from the Middle Eastern country would have to be completely independent of their current ownership in France.
