Dave Cormack in Aberdeen FC transfer 'Mea Culpa' as he reveals gaffe behind THAT deleted tweet

Aberdeen chief Dave Cormack is adamant a misunderstanding of how Twitter worked resulted in a tweet which sparked fans into a frenzy.

Most Dons supporters were basking in the glow of Scotland's epic 2-1 come from behind win over Norway when their chairman – an active user of the social media site – forced them into a late night double check. Cormack simply wrote the name of Celtic keeper Conor Hazard for his 16,000 followers to see and Aberdeen diehards didn't miss him sharply deleting it. That led to Cormack taking to the camera from his Atlanta base as he aimed to explain what happened.

He said: "I have just deleted a tweet, people with notifications on saw it. I thought I was searching and I actually ended up replying to Alan Burrows. No one will believe me, no one one has mentioned Conor (Hazard) to me at all. I was just, simply, doing a whole bunch of searching that I usually do on players. Some think when I tweet this late in UK time that I have been at the sauce, I can't use that as an excuse because I have been tee-total for about 15 years."
