Dartford assistant manager Roland Edge praises two-goal Callum Jones and reacts to 3-0 Isthmian Premier win at Dulwich Hamlet

Dartford’s Callum Jones deserves even more goals than the 14 he’s already scored this season.

That’s the verdict of assistant manager Roland Edge after Jones bagged a brace either side of half-time to seal a 3-0 victory at Dulwich.

Jones, a brilliant summer signing by boss Ady Pennock, brings so much more to the team than goals – and Edge knows that probably works against him when it comes to personal glory.

“Callum does everything,” stated Edge. “In the 90th minute, he's chasing their full-back all the way down the pitch. Yet again, he's done that all season.

“He probably hasn't got the goals that he's deserved because he works all over the pitch and often he's not in the areas he'd like to be to score the goals.

“But that second goal was a very good finish. We see it week in, week out, in training.

“When he got put in, he had a nice touch and before he struck it I thought it would be a goal – he took it brilliantly into the far corner.

“The header was just a well-worked set piece and Samir Carruthers has got that class at this level. Callum’s got into the box where he wants to be and scored - I'm really happy for him, he deserves it.”

Dartford had led through on-loan Leyton Orient teenage midfielder Hayden Bullas.

It’s something that the management have been working with Bullas on, reacting first to second balls in and around the penalty area.

“We have spoken to him,” said Edge. “He's a young lad with great talent and he's a pleasure to work with.

“We just said, look, there's no reason why you can't arrive on the edge of the box.

“You can link play in the park brilliantly, but in order for you to progress, you've got to add that to your game.
