Dartford 4 Billericay Town 0 match report: Olly Box, George Whitefield, Callum Jones and substitute Eddie Dsane net as Darts cruise past Essex visitors for eighth straight Isthmian Premier win
Dominant Dartford secured an eighth straight win against Billericay to move level on points with their Isthmian Premier promotion rivals on Saturday.
Early goals from top scorer Olly Box and George Whitefield had the Darts in control by half-time against the Essex outfit that had beaten them 4-0 in early October.
But red-hot Dartford firmly turned the tables on them this time as second-half strikes from Callum Jones and substitute Eddie Dsane completed their own 4-0 victory.
The home side made a dream start and took the lead in just the fifth minute on a fantastic day with the match’s first real chance.
Young forward Box emphatically blasted past goalkeeper Sam Donkin from around 20 yards out to find the top corner after the ball had fallen kindly to him for his 12th goal this campaign.
Nine minutes later, it got even better for Ady Pennock’s team in front of a 1,634-strong attendance.
Right-back Whitefield sent a near-post bullet header from a Samir Carruthers corner past Donkin for his fifth goal of the season to double their tally.
Home keeper Jacob Marsden had to be alert in the 21st minute as he tipped an in-swinging cross by skipper Matt Johnson away from danger.
Soon after - for a second successive weekend - Carruthers’ afternoon ended early. He hobbled off to be replaced by Chelmsford loanee Louis Dunne in midfield.
It was Dunne, who had the next opportunity for the Darts. He curled inches over with a free-kick.
Referee Dan Blades then opted to give Billericay striker Femi Akinwande and Darts defender Mike Olarewaju a warning apiece after a coming together between the players in the 41st minute.
To add insult to injury, visiting defender Tommy Davis (shoulder) hobbled off and, although manager Gary McCann didn’t
