Darren Moore sheds light on his relationship with Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri
Dejphon Chansiri is determined to revive Sheffield Wednesday's fortunes. The Thai businessman came in for strong criticism from the Owls fan-base following the club's relegation to League One last year.
But lessons appear to have been learnt on and off the pitch since that dismal campaign. Wednesday came within a whisker of sealing an instant return to the Championship, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Sunderland in the play-offs back in May.
Chansiri has built up a strong rapport with manager Darren Moore. Seventeen months have passed since Moore took over the reins.
Although Moore was unable to save the Owls from the drop, Moore led Wednesday to a fourth-placed finish last term. He stayed on following their promotion near-miss and Chansiri has backed him in the transfer market once again, giving Moore the green light to sign seven new players. More incomings are on the way as the Owls look to push for automatic promotion.
On his relationship with Chansiri, Moore said: "He's always played a role and will always play a huge part. He's involved every step of the way.
"We're clear, we talk daily on the phone and we get a Zoom in as often as we can. Because of the distance he is away, it's really important with the time he's on because he's ahead of us by five or six hours.
"It's so important we keep the communication lines really open. Everything we are doing here at Sheffield Wednesday he knows all about, he knows what we're trying to bring to the football club and we're all on the same page in terms of what we're trying to implement.
"The process is ongoing, we're trying to move things forward. And every step of the way, he's involved in everything in terms of the football.
