Darren Moore sends clear message to Sheffield Wednesday players ahead of Rotherham United test

Darren Moore has called on his Sheffield Wednesday players to keep their emotions in check when they host high-flying Rotherham United tomorrow afternoon.

Three points and local bragging rights will be on the line in Sunday's mouth-watering clash at Hillsborough.

The South Yorkshire derby promises to be an electric occasion, with Paul Warne's Millers team set to be backed by over 3,500 fans.

Moore, whose side have only lost once at home all season, told Yorkshire Live: "I’m sure Sunday’s game will be a passionate one.

"The players have got to be professional and play the game, not the occasion. The fans will sing their hearts out (in the stands) but we want cool heads on the pitch.

"Rotherham are second in the form guide and we are third and we want the game to be played in a wonderful atmosphere. We want to play the right football that everybody wants to see.

"I am looking forward to witnessing a home derby in front of our home fans."

Despite 10 first-team players being unavailable for selection through injury, Moore has again played down the prospect of entering the free agency market to bolster his depleted ranks.

He said: "We have been down the route of the free agents market and it takes four to six weeks to get them up to speed and then games to get them match sharp - by that time we’ll have our injured players back.

"We will get on with what we have got.

"Unless there’s a standout figure who ticks all the boxes with fitness levels - there are not too many out there really - I’ve closed that option and we will carry on with what we have got.

"When we get the injured players back, we will welcome them back into the team and keep them moving forward."
